Two EXCEPT papers presented at ISA RC28 conference in Cologne
At the ISA RC28 Social Stratification and Mobility, Spring Meeting in Cologne, Germany two papers based on the research done in the frames of EXCEPT project were presented. Jonas Vossemer presented a joint paper with four other EXCEPT researchers (Michael Gebel, Olena Nizalova, Katerina Gousia, Olga Nikolaieva). The paper addresses the potential long-term health consequences of an early-career job loss and youth unemployment. The researchers used detailed retrospective data from the third wave (2008/09) of the Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE), to analyse whether an involuntary job loss in the first 10 years after labour market entry has lasting negative effects on health measured for more than 30 years later. The results from research on the impact of youth unemployment on health by Anna Baranowska-Rataj and Mattias Strandh were presented as well.
