EXCEPT parliamentary reception at the House of Commons of the UK

University of Kent EXCEPT team (Centre for Health Services Studies) held a parliamentary reception at the House of Commons (UK Parliament) on 25th of April. 120 guests participated in the event, among whom almost 90 were young people.

Ms Rosie Duffield, MP, who sponsored the event, provided a thorough introduction relating to the importance of the EXCEPT project for policy making in addressing the negative consequence of youth unemployment.

Professor Peter Taylor-Gooby of the School of Sociology, Social Policy and Social Research provided a thorough discussion of the EXCEPT findings in light of the UK economic and policy context.

Dr Olena Nizalova, CHSS Senior Research Fellow, summarised the findings and started the group discussion with the audience.

The event was chaired by Dr Rowena Merritt, CHSS Research Fellow, and concluded with the panel discussion with young people Patrick Cantellow, Olga Nikolaieva and Thomas Middleton.
