EXCEPT co-organized event „Discovering the energy of youth“ with the project CATCH- EyoU
On 25th of April, EXCEPT and CATCH-EyoU (two EC funded projects) organised a joint event „Discovering the energy of youth“ to encourage a dialogue between youth, stakeholders and researchers. The first part of the programme consisted of a presentation of the results from both projects. EXCEPT project coordinator Marge Unt talked about the policies which help to decrease the gap in life satisfaction between employed and unemployed youth. Eve-Liis Roosmaa described the findings from the qualitative research and Marti Taru gave examples of „good practices” to improve the situation of unemployed youth. The team of Catch-EyoU discussed the role of schools in encouraging active citizenship, roads which lead to active engagement and the patterns of youths’ participation in local elections.
The second part of the event was organised as working groups where people had the chance to discuss one of the following questions: how to help the youth who lack support from parental home; how to encourage youth to be more active and how can the educational system prepare youth to be more active on labour market and in the society in general. The discussion was lively and each group formulated a couple of proposals in relation to the questions they were addressing.
