Article about long-term unemployed youth in one of the biggest daily newspapers in Estonia
EXCEPT project coordinator, Marge Unt published an article about long-term unemployed youth in Estonia in one of the biggest daily newspapers - Eesti Päevaleht. The article started with the story of a young man interviewed by the EXCEPT project and the possible consequences of long-term unemployment. The focal point of the article was what local government can do to improve the situation of youth. The article stressed that cooperation between different actors on the local level needs to be improved and existing registers should be used to detect youth in trouble before the problems escalate. Also, the global changes in the nature of work were described and the question is what would be the local responses to these global trends?
The article is part of a series of articles dedicated to the local government elections in Estonia held on 15th of October. The series is developed in cooperation between Tallinn University, the newspaper Eesti Päevaleht and online news portal Delfi. Every week an article giving a wider perspective on local issues is published with the goal to improve the quality of political debate and to make the decision-making of voters easier.
